Sony has announced a professional camcorder which is a prototype model of NXCAM makes use of AVCHD compression for recording high definition videos. In the line of professional camcorder, NXCAM is first camcorder to be released by Sony that record videos directly into the PRO Duo Memory Stick. NXCAM has got a large 3.2 inch LCD screen with a resolution of about 921,000 pixels and includes three CMOS sensors with 20x optical zoom and Sony’s G lens. The NXCAM camcorder comprises most of its specification and features from Sony’s HVR-Z5U. The only difference is that instead of tape deck, NXCAM equips a memory card slot.
NXCAM can shoot 11 hours AVCHD recording through the optional 128GB flash memory. It is been reported that Sony has planned to release NXCAM before 2010 worldwide. The price of the camcorder is not yer released but it is expected to be priced equal to Sony’s HVR-Z5U. Mr.Bob Ott, vice president, Sony Electronic was questioned by the reporters regarding any further additional features that could be expected on NXCAM camcorder, for which he responded, “anything is possible”.
