An LCD colour Monitor is used as the viewfinder that shows the images, status etc. The screen size of this display is 2.5 inch. Zoom is a key feature applied in this unit. By using 20x Optical zoom and 100x Digital zoom, users can magnify the captured videos.

It has a Mini DV cassette used as the storage media. A head cleaner is used to clean this storage media and this saves the camcorder’s life. The rated sensor resolution of the device is 0.44-mega pixels.

The optical sensor used is 3CCD. That means a Charge Coupled Device is used in the lens with the size of ¼ inch for capturing the images. For this optical sensor the least illumination point is 0.37 lux. The lens aperture is F/1.6-2.9, where F is the Focal length. The minimum focal length of the lens is 4.2 mm and the maximum is 8.4 mm.

All the captured images are stored as JPEG files. The highest resolution for the still image is measured as 1488 x 1128 pixels. By using Multi Media Card and Secure Digital Card you can store more images and video clips. The maximum capacity of the memory card used for this camcorder is 8 MB.

The major shooting modes applied in this Canon XM2 Digital Camcorder are Auto, Beach and Snow, Frame movie, Digital Photo, Manual and Spot light. At the same time many special effects such as Art, Auto fade, Black and White, Mirror, Mosaics, Sepia, Slim, Stretch, and Tracer are added. You can also fade the image as Black, Overlap and Window wipe by using Fader options.

For the connectivity feature, it requires A/V, FireWire, S-Video and a USB port. The size of the product is 11.8 cm (Width) x 30.6 cm (Depth) x 13.6 cm (Height). This Camcorder weighs only 1120 grams and can you can easily take it with you even while you are travelling. The integrated Lithium-ion batteries will support the device by giving it the required power.
